What's a piece of advice someone gave you that you ignored... and later realized they were right?

Take It In

What does this reveal about who God is?

  1. Read 1 Samuel 24:4-7, Proverbs 19:21, & Isaiah 46:9-10. David chose to wait on God's timing rather than seize the throne himself. What does this reveal about God's sovereignty and His ability to fulfill His promises without our manipulation?
  2. Read 1 Samuel 24:12, Romans 12:19, & Deuteronomy 32:35. David trusted God to be the Judge between him and Saul. What do these passages teach us about God's justice and our responsibility to leave vengeance in His hands?
  3. Read Malachi 3:6, Numbers 23:19, James 1:17. The message emphasized that God will never lead us in a way that contradicts His character. What do these verses teach us about God's unchanging nature?
  4. What do you learn about God's character from David's refusal to take the throne by force?

Talk About It

How do we practically apply this?

  1. Have you ever experienced a "cave moment" (an opportunity that looked right but didn't align with God's character or timing)? How did you respond?
  2. Read 1 Samuel 24:5. David responded to conviction quickly when he realized he was wrong. What can we learn from his response about humility and repentance?
  3. Integrity can become living evidence of God to those around us. Who in your life might be impacted by your obedience and trust in God right now?

Take It Home

What are we doing this week?

What is one area of your life where God is asking you to honor the process instead of forcing the promise? What would trusting the Promise-Maker look like this week?
