Week 3

The Right Seat at the Table

Jesus invites us all to come into His Kingdom - and learn the ways and values of His Kingdom, which is ‘not of this world’. Jesus wants his followers to walk with a humble disposition, and to have a heart of such true hospitality that we’d make a place at our table for those who just might really need it. This week we discuss living out humility as a habit of the heart and what that looks like in our daily lives.

Love-Given Gifts on the Table

Jesus welcomed all kinds of people into fellowship, and made room for their lives to change. His mercy created wells of gratitude - the kind that can’t just go unexpressed. Nice Looking Dishes on the Table

Jesus is thought of as a ‘religious figure’, but he actually spent a good deal of time demoting empty religiosity - and promoting real spiritual life. In our journey of sanctification, there will always be tension between a true desire for holiness, and a superficial sanctimonious pretense. This message will call us to confront that fake veneer and the spirit of religion - and make our table a place for authentic encounter.

Dirty Feet at the Table

Jesus washes the disciples’ feet at the table where a dinner happened which we call ‘the Last Supper’, Jesus shared his vision for the way His people would engage with each other and with the world around them. Jesus showed that what he desires in his followers is humility, willingness, availability, can-do spirit, and a heart to serve!
