Talk About It Questions
I. Read 1 Peter 3:8 & Psalm 139:23–24 and Talk About It
- When was the last time you became suddenly aware that your emotions were driving your reactions more than your faith?
- How did it affect your words or actions?
- What has helped you to grow in the self-awareness aspect of EQ (Emotional Intelligence)?
II. 1 Peter 3:9 & Galatians 5:22–23 and Talk About It
- Share about a time you wanted to fire back with words (online or in person), but you sensed God calling you to self-control. How did that go?
- Where do you still need to widen the gap between impulse and action, to improve the self-regulation element of EQ?
III. Read 1 Peter 3:10–11 and Talk About It
- How much do you rely on screens, AI, or technology to process emotions or escape difficult feelings?
- In what ways might that be dulling your ability to sympathize, empathize, or connect deeply with real people?
- What’s one habit you could change this week to reclaim your social awareness and relationship management EQ factors through human connection?
IV. Read 1 Peter 3:11 again and Talk About It
- Share a relationship in your life that feels strained or cold.
- What step of humility, forgiveness, or encouragement could you take this week to rebuild connection?
V. Read Ephesians 4:29–32 and Talk About It
- Where do you notice technology shaping your speech or emotions in unhealthy ways?
- How can you invite the Holy Spirit to train your EQ so your words consistently “build others up” instead of tearing them down, and where will you do that this week?
Prayer Time
Spend some time in prayer as a group and keep a few of these things in mind when praying:
- Pray for boldness to share your faith
- Pray for unity in the body of Christ
- Pray for self control and for the Lord to strengthen you as you work to maintain peace
- Pray for other needs in the group
