- In what ways have you experienced this verse to be true, either positively or negatively?
II. Read Proverbs 18:24
- In your own words, what’s the difference between casual friendships and the kind of “real friend” this verse describes?
Talk About It
III. Read Genesis 2:18
- What do you think most commonly gets in the way of forming close, meaningful friendships today?
IV. Think about the shared spaces in your life—work, church, school drop-off, sports, gym, neighborhood.
- Where might God already be placing potential friendships around you?
- Is there a space where you want to be more intentional? What might that look like?
V. Think about your current friendships.
- Are there any friendships in your life that consistently pull you away from Jesus rather than toward Him?
- If so, what healthy boundaries or intentional decisions might honor both your walk with God and that relationship?
VI. Read Proverbs 27:6 and 27:17
- Do you currently have relationships that sharpen your faith or character?
What sets those friendships apart from the others in your life?
VII. “Sharpening” requires trust, honesty, and permission.
- What does it take for sharpening to happen in a friendship, and have you given anyone that level of permission in your life? Why or why not?
